Dehydroascorbic acid as an anti-cancer agent

Dehydroascorbic acid is an oxidized form of ascorbic acid.

"Three discoveries together point the way to a potential treatment for cancer. In 1982, Poydock and colleagues found that dehydroascorbic acid has the remarkable ability to eliminate the aggressive mouse tumours, L1210, P388, Krebs sarcoma, and Ehrlich carcinoma. In 1993, Jakubowski found that cancer cells (but not normal cells) contain measurable quantities of homocysteine thiolactone. Recently, the author found that dehydroascorbic acid reacts with homocysteine thiolactone converting it to the toxic compound, 3-mercaptopropionaldehyde. Taken together, these findings suggest that rapidly-dividing tumour cells make unusually large amounts of homocysteine thiolactone and that administered dehydroascorbic acid enters the cells and converts the thiolactone to mercaptopropionaldehyde which kills the cancer cells. The effectiveness of dehydroascorbic acid might be further increased by combining it with methionine and/or methotrexate to increase the homocysteine concentration in cancer cells."

Very nice and interesting video! Thanks a lot! This makes me think that it's interesting the concept in which we could add AA+DHA+Liposomal version. Each would be absorbed via different mechanisms and therefore lead to high levels of AA in the blood via oral administration.

Triggered by your link, I did some research and look what I found:

According to this study published in March 2020, there is a huge absorption peak of AA in the first minutes after oral admin that is typically not seen by the studies looking at longer time frames.

I think that's a brilliant idea D., there seem to be many (anticancer) benefits to such an approach.

The results of the study you mention are important, and I must say I'm not surprised. 

I had forgotten about the DHA video, I saw it 4 or 5 years ago, and I actually made a batch of DHA back then, with the peels of zucchini ( I think peels of cucumber are also OK, but zucchini is best). Worked exactly as shown in the video. The study in the original post then reminded me of it.
