CONCLUSION
Distinct from other forms of cell death, ferroptosis is characterized
by the LPO accumulation and iron dependency. Recent studies
have provided new insights into the molecular mechanism of
ferroptosis, particularly its relationship with lipid metabolism in
cancer cells. The interaction between ferroptosis and lipid
metabolism plays an important role in tumorigenesis, tumor
development, invasion, metastasis, therapy resistance, and tumor
immunity. The detailed underlying mechanisms driving ferroptosis
awaits further exploration. We should address the specific markers
for ferroptosis, the specific source and role of LPO in ferroptosis, as
well as the exact interaction between ferroptosis and lipid
metabolism in cancer. Undoubtedly, targeting the interaction
between ferroptosis and lipid metabolism provides potential
therapeutic strategies for cancer. The combination of inducing
ferroptosis and blocking tumor immune escape may improve the
efficacy of antitumor therapy in clinics.
