"Our study supports the hypothesis that events at the time of surgery can influence treatment outcome in breast cancer and raises the possibility that these events can be favorably modulated by injectable preparation of progesterone before surgery. The biologic underpinning of the events at the time of surgery could be either dissemination of cancer cells during surgery or autonomy bestowed on pre existing micrometastases by the act of removal of the primary tumor" https://ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/JCO.2010.33.0738
